One-time authorization

At various online stores you can pay by issuing a one-off direct debit authorization. A One-time authorization is also called a direct debit. The one-off authorization (direct debit) is a payment method in which the seller receives permission from the buyer to collect money from his account. Direct debit mandates are a way to issue an authorization online through your bank. By doing so, you give permission to a company to debit money from your account via a European direct debit. A signature on paper is no longer necessary.

Benefits

  • Fast payment solution for a one-time purchase

Cons

  • The non-legally valid one-time authorization is a shaky means of payment when it comes to security. A typo and the money can be debited from the wrong account or a scammer may deliberately use a different account number. Abuse is therefore lurking.
